Job costing function

Helen Stathers
Dear all
Is there a "job costing" function on Gnucash like:
- Classes on Quickbooks and
- Departments on Sage?
This is for  streaming expenditure out of all accounts for project
expenditure monitoring.
Any help appreciated.

I've never used Quickbooks or Sage so I don't know what those do.
So I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for or if you're
using "Job" in the gnucash sense.

If you're trying to add up the sums of multiple invoices attached
to a Job, well.. I don't think there's a way to do that currently.

If, however, you're just trying to create a "Quote", one thing you
could do is just create an Invoice and not post it to the CoA.

hello derek, I switched over to this amazing functional software for business purpose. Job costing feature will be of great use which groups all the receivables and payables for a particular job to produce a report to evaluate cash flow / nett income from the job. Please comment. Regards, nor

Depending on what you want to achieve you can do this either by selecting
accounts to go on reports which you can save for re-use or through the
actual account structure itself.

Also look at Customer / Vendor jobs to group things together and
Chargebacks to link purchase documents to sales.

There was a good write up in this list not too long ago that might help.
