[GNC] Error (wrong link) on GnuCash News web page

Stan Brown
On the news page
https://www.gnucash.org/news.phtml
under the new item
Announcement: GnuCash 3.2 Release - 2018-06-24
under Documentation
one of the documentation changes is
Bug 796098 - V 3.1 Missing images in Tutorial and Concepts Guide in PDF
and Online Help pages.

That line is a link, but the URL of the link is
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=796484
instead of
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=796098

A larger issue is that all the links in the 3.2 release notes (well, all
the half-dozen I was interested in) seem to point to the old bug
database. Maybe they should be updated to the new one?

Stan,

I think this arises because the shift to https://bugs.gnucash.org
occurred after the release of V3.2 so https://bugzilla.gnome.org was
the active reporting system at the time of the release which is why the
links point there.

Those bugs are all duplicated into https://bugs.gnucash.org so you can
just search for them using the id.

Alternatively the format of the links is the same, so if you open the
link in a new tab from the News page, then substitute bugs.gnucash.org
for bugzilla.gnucash.org in the address bar and hit enter it will take
you to the bug in the new bugs.gnucash.org site.

David

And each bug on bugzilla.gnome.org has in the last comment a link to the same bug on bugs.gnucash.org. So it may take another click, but anyone will get there eventually.

Though I can’t see any harm in those website links being refactored to bugs.gnucash.org.

And now, you can file a bug/RFE for that! (there’s a website component on bugs.gnucash.org to handle issues with the site, wiki and mailing list)

Regards,
Adrien

No harm, just a cumbersome process. Because we have to verify for each link
it's actually pointing at a gnucash bug and not referring to an old gtk or
other gnome project bug.

Geert
