I'm now seeing the following message in the trace file:

  Failed to open module gnucash/backend/file
  : could not locate gnucash/backend/file interface v.0

This wasn't there before today.

I'm not sure if this message is related to your change, or if this error
always occurred but nothing was never printed until I committed some of
Chris' changes today.  Any thoughts?

David

Probably not related to my changes - I've never seen it before.

I'm seeing:

qof_load_backend_library: assertion `(stat(fullpath, &sbuf) == 0)' failed
gnc_engine_init: assertion `(qof_load_backend_library (QOF_LIB_DIR, "libqof-backend-qsf.la", "qsf_provider_init"))' failed
qof_load_backend_library: assertion `(stat(fullpath, &sbuf) == 0)' failed
Warning: qof_session_load_backend():  failed to load libqof-backend-qsf.la from /usr/local/lib using qsf_provider_init

but not the messages you reported.  Are these related?  Maybe I have
different trace settings than you do?

This happeds when I try to open a file, and I also get an error box
saying "Can't parse the URL."

I guess I'll try a fresh 'make distclean'.
